What to expect, from start to finish

We understand, and we want to prepare you so that you know exactly what to expect when you visit our Halifax dental clinic.
Your journey starts with a warm welcome. As soon as you step into our practice, you will sense the relaxed, friendly and professional atmosphere that we have created here. We want you to feel at ease and never rushed. Everyone on our team views our patients as family, so every single one of our staff members is ready to assist you and make sure your visit is comfortable.
Upon your arrival, one of our patient co-ordinators will greet you and assist you with completing any necessary forms.
All new patients begin their journey with a complete dental check-up. During this check-up, we will take X-rays, photographs, scans and any other necessary diagnostic images of your teeth. If you plan to get dental implants, we can provide you with your CBCT scan right here on site.
Our priority is to address any urgent dental concerns or complaints you may have. We will take the time to listen to you at the beginning of your appointment to find out which issues we should take care of first.
One of our dentists will then carefully examine your teeth and gums and check the alignment of your bite and the function of your TMJ. Your dentist will also examine your mouth for signs of oral cancer and gum disease.
Upon finishing this examination, your dentist will have a complete picture of your dental health. We will go over these findings with you and explain your treatment options fully.
The next step is to plan out which treatments you need to achieve a healthy, comfortable, functional and beautiful smile. Besides general and cosmetic dentistry, our practice is equipped to offer you a range of treatments including Invisalign® and dental implants.
Your dentist will create a bespoke treatment plan that includes all the services you need to reach your oral health goals, and then he will explain it to you. You will find out how much your treatment is estimated to cost, and you will explore all of your treatment alternatives.
If you decide to go ahead with a major treatment like implants or Invisalign®, then your quoted treatment cost will cover the price of your initial visit with us.
If you are due for a scale and polish, then you will have a cleaning on the very day of your initial check-up. This is included during your first visit to our practice. If we notice that you have signs of gum disease, then we may suggest you schedule a hygiene appointment for gum treatment.
Once your teeth are clean and ready to go, we can begin the restorative phase of your treatment plan. You can skip this step, of course, if your teeth are healthy and you have no dental concerns. If you have any decayed, missing or damaged teeth, however, then we can treat them with crowns or tooth replacements like bridges and dental implants.
We make general dentistry a breeze by using a digital scanner to plan your restorations. The scanning technology eliminates the need for messy and uncomfortable dental impressions.
Do you struggle with dental anxiety? We are ready to help you. Our team will help you address your concerns so that you can get the care you need with confidence. We can even arrange for you to have your treatment done with mild dental sedation, if necessary.
If you have no dental health issues, then you might be interested in enhancing the appearance of your smile. We offer several cosmetic dental treatments that you can choose from. You may also be able to have some cosmetic treatments done prior to or alongside any restorative treatments.
When you are all caught up on your dental treatment plan, we will provide you with a recommended maintenance routine. This will include suggestions for when you should schedule your check-ups and cleanings, and we will also give you advice for maintaining a healthy mouth with effective oral hygiene measures.
